Hi,
I recently bought a new dimm of DDR ram for my computer and I began to experience issues, such as lock ups, I'm begining to wonder if the RAM I purchased wasn't the type I needed. I'm confused about what the PC rating (PC2100, etc.) tells me and how that correlates to the speed. If someone could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

PC2100 will give you 266MHz
PC2700 will give you 333MHz
PC3200 will give you 400MHz
PC3500 will give you 433MHz
PC3700 will give you 450MHz
PC4000 is suppose to give you 500MHz...

the number after PC is just to give you an idea of how fast it would perform theoreticaly

so a PC3200 ram is suppose to move data at 3200Mb/s
but thats just theoretical and hard to reach unless you overclock

mainly you want to have the ram synchronized with your CPU's frontsidebus and see what speeds are compatible with the motherboard
