i dont think that they are backward compatable...but im not sure....but why in the world would u buy a 533 cpu and use a 800 fsb mobo? Just go for the 533 motherboard. The 533 on 800 makes no sense

oh nice, is that what you have? http://www6.tomshardware.com/motherboard/20030707/i875p-15.html it looks nice.. toms hardware says "Our assessment in brief: similar to its big brother P4C800 Deluxe, yet Asus has made savings in the case of the P4P800. One sound panel for simultaneous inputs and outputs is lacking (in the case of 5.1 Audio) and, in addition, the volume of equipment is very sparse. For $150, this product is, however, more cost-effective than the overpriced P4C800 Deluxe. " and this is just one of the examples.. but http://www6.tomshardware.com/motherboard/20030707/i875p-59.html shows the board i'm considering on the top of the performance list and yours much farther down. I notice that the p4p is a very nice board but nothing stands out to make me want to further pursue it. Thanks for the advice though..
but anyway, does anybody else know if my 400fsb p4 will work in a 800 fsb board? it worked in a 533...

well if you want something done right do it yourself huh.. http://www.msicomputer.com/product/detail_spec/product_detail.asp?model=865PE_Neo2-LS says yes
- Supports FSB *400 (Northwood only)/533/800 MHz
snore.. you guys can help me though..which is better.. 2 sticks of 512mb pc3200 or 4 sticks of 256mb?
it is a hell of a board, i just bought the 875p from msi. Its fast as all hell, but on the same token it can be a pain to setup and even more to overclock. If you are going to buy the 865 variant may i suggest you do it soon, intel is using a chip revision on the 865 to disable the pat(though not named that) tech.

heard tomshardware is starting to be bias to some brands and that they are taking money to have a good review....but its just some rumors
Check anandtech..and u will clearly see the p4p800 deluxe on top of the charts.
But ure msi buy is not bad either

IMO::Tom's and Anandtech are two of the most biosed reviewers on the web.
They get paid to review a product, therefore you are not gonna get a realistic picture of the product.
Why not go to a non biosed site that reviews stuff, and posts the real facts of the product.
I agree Jason if i had it to do over again id probally get the 865, the main point is to warn you that intel is in the works with a chipset revision for the 865 which disables the functions board manf have been using to make them keep up with the 875p so you might want to hurry.

How about Techware Labs, 8 Demensional, Got Apex, Amd Motherboard, Extreme Tech, Hard OCP,Overclockers, Sharkey Extreme, & MaximumPC just for a start. I have been able to get a good picture of about any product by looking at these sites.

Jason425::It appears you have already made your mind up on what you are gonna purchase. So why ask what others suggest? The P4P800 is the fastest mobo on the market today. I guess this is not what you are interested in.
It appears the $$ is the only governing aspect to you.
All of us understand that aspect.
Why not wait and save your pennies for a month or two and get the best of the best.

If I was completely decided, I wouldn't continue to ask around. Since I just blew my asus board.. I'm a little reluctant.. I'll take another look at the p4p. It has pat right?

Most ASUS mobo's have a 3yr warranty.
Surely you haven't had yours that long?
Have you contacted ASUS to see about RMA?

IMO::
I might suggest getting it together and keeping things on file.
Get yourself a filing box, label the folders for stuff you purchase and file the invoices in the folders when you get home with the stuff.

Jason425::There is no warranty on a product if you purchased it from a "friend" and did not get the sales invoice for the original purchase.
You should not expect such.
If you purchased the product from a store, or an online website store, they do furnish a sales invoice that comes in the box when you get the product.
