I think I setup my win2k machine properly to share files but 98 is a different story. How do I setup my win98 box to share files with 2k?

I can see/access both shares from my 2000 box. When I try to access my 2000 box from my 98 box I get an error saying I have to put in a password. How do I get rid of this dialog?

Don't use a password for your logon.

umm, do use a password for your login. very important for security reasons (if you don't have broadband, it's not a big deal, but otherwise yes). There are other options. You should be able to setup login accounts on the 2k box that way the 98 box logs in to the computer and has a certain level of access

How do I go about doing that? I know how to create a new user on my 2k box, but I see nothing about allowing access from another machine.

UPDATE: Everything is working fine now on the network. ONE PROBLEM though. Now when I try to access my 2k box from my 98 box I recieve ACCESS DENIED, TRY AGAIN. How do I go about tackling this?

On your windows98 login screen, type in your username and password you use for the 2K box

You need to make sure that your win2k box is setup with a domain - only way 98 can get access to it.

as far as filesharing?
no. I'm sharing it normally in my lan. As long as I put in my username and password in win98 that's my usr/ps in 2k, I gained access just fine to the shared data

i remember in win2k network setup
you have to set that login to "never expire" or something liek that
then it wont ask you for login everytime you try to access it
