linux isn't that hard to use. setting up a distro like red had or mandrake could be done by just about anyone, even in a dual boot setup (you might need to do some partition resizing with something like parition magic).

that's my point.. and sure you can get 3rd party open source stuff .. but i'm not convinced that the hassle and time involved is worth it.
Its worth it. Ya, linux is a pain in the ass to learn because its not windows. But when you get it down its lots more stable and faseter than windows. Sure its a pain in the ass to install and configure everything with cfg files. WINE can run most windows based progies with out a problem. The only thing ive run across with linux is they are a little behind with the hardware support.

Maybe ill start a comp when i get older designing apps for linux :)
I have a business mans mind
and a geeks passion ( )
erm
anyway
if a company directly focuses on a specific thing about linux they could make a lotta money with better programs
ie radeon, specifically gfx cards........

well, sicne i only use like three or four apps on my windows boxes that aren't open source, i don't see the transition from windows to linux to be that big of a deal.
only non-open sources apps I use (besides windows itself):
* dreamweaver (and i don't REALLY use it, i just like to see my coding as I go along. sometimes i use composer on mozilla, though not usually).
* trillian. and i do have GAIM on my windows box, just because. It's not there, yet. But i see it being better than Trillian in the near future.
* wordperfect. there is open office, but i hate open office, for the same reason i hate MS Word. It just doesn't feel right. Nevertheless, using OO is EASY.
* photoshop. I don't even use the full feature set of PS. GIMP has proven to be enough for me.

wtf. how? selling mp3's is making money off of stealing. using linux is using something that has been offered to you for free. if you're talking about the corporations who 'sell' linux, they also offer free downloads. They sale you a manual and CD's and support.

nonono what i mean is that it's really hard to sell mp3's because they're free.. selling something that is related to something free is a little more difficult.. see where i'm going?
