You can also use 3 sticks of ram for dual channel ddr, but the 3rd stick will operate slower. There is a good technical discussion forming here (http://www.aoaforums.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13963).

what is dual channel? and what difference is there between the 2nd and 3rd

dual channel is like from sd to ddr.. but again, and the 2nd is on two diff channels, 3rd is on one (notice the space)

it makes your ram from 64 bit to 128 bit
theoretically it doubles the speed but that is just marketing hype
real world performance gain is about 10% at maximum, usually 3-5%
more for boards that have onboard graphics also though
