i just got this SMC 7004VWBR wireless 802.11b router last week
for 30 bucks CAD

cheap eh
started with 119.99 CAD
then 40 discount
40 mail in rebate
10 instand rebate

then it goes to 30 CAD after tax

anyways
this problem is wired networking specific, im not using the 802.11b yet
so far its working fine when surfing the web
the problem im having is when playing Desert Combat which uses UDP port 14567

it disconnected me from the game after around 10 minutes of playing and lags a lot before it does that

for the router settings, ive tried everything
setting the virtual server for that port
and special application settings also

nothing is working to fix that problem
ive also got the latest firmware for my router

i also did some tweak tests on broadbandreports.com
it showed that i received 8 retransmitted packets out of 108

http://monitor.dslreports.com/tweak/block:7d1ac7?service=cable&speed=3000&os=winXP&via=normal

using cable internet

please help, thank you

ps. it is fine wihtout a router

i assume you've tried port forwarding for the specific UDP port. you might want to completely reset the router or even rollback the firmware. also, see if the switching function is somehow borked, connect the cable modem to a non-WAN port via a crossover cable and then your computer to another non-WAN port (normal cable) and see if it works like that. if not, i'd say you've got hardware problems.
