In the never ending quest for the ultimate rig,I got a question...how much ram improves performance and is there a point when adding more actually slows things down? curently running :1 GB DDR 433 PNY VERTO RAM ( 2 - 512 sticks ) on ASUS A7N8X DELUXE, WINDOWS XP,AMD XP2500 (SOON TO BE UPGRADED TO XP3200 400FSB)PNY VERTO FX 5900 ULTRA VID CARD, AUDIGY 2,LOGITECH 6.1 SPEAKERS,TWIN MAXTOR 120 GB HD (7200RPM) ,SONY 21 INCH MONITOR,.....always latest detonator drivers and current bios and chipset nforce2 drivers......there is one memory slot open and compusa has a rebate for my memory now that would make a total of 1.5 gb....will it be faster or not.....PLAYING: unreal 2, call of duty, medal of honor, comanche 4,and getting Secret Weapons Over Normandy(LUCAS ARTS) on the release date......THE WIFE PLAYS :Command and Conquer Generals , and Delta Force.............open for suggestions!!????

No. It wouldn't be running in duel channel with a 3rd stick and even the diff between 512 and 1 gig is relatively small compared to 256 and 512, but between 1 gig and 1.5 especially for gaming, there would likely be little to no improvement. Nice comp nonetheless.

My board has 4 slots, so i didn't know. You can run duel channel with 3 sticks? That's very odd, considering dual channel means 2, as in two sticks. But maybe i'm a retard and you can run dual channel in 3 slots. :o

you bought what, an extra 512? any benchmarks to tell the diff? no, i guess i'm not HARDCORE.. if that means putting every dime i have into my comp. I make it good, but i don't go overkill as in 1.5 gigs for a gaming comp. Your rig though.
