Default How to host a domain name on windows.

ive been puzzled on how to host my own domain name. i have an account at www.zoneedit.com, and i updated the nameservers to the ones they assigned plus added my ip for the domain but for some reason it doesnt take ;/ any help on how to host a domain name for the internet would be much appreiciated.

also my system specs are

2.8ghz
dsl (static)
512k ram
server utility = apache 1.3.23

it can take up to 72 hours for the IP go traverse the domain name system.

make sure, if you are behind a router, to forward external traffic to your internal ip address of your http serving machine.

and the problem uranium points out is a common deception. meaning a lot of people think its not working cuz of the delay, not that his point was a deception.

thanks guys for the help as for jason everyone makes a grammatical error sometimes. As for future refrence please post a reply that is helpful, and not to mention related to the topic stated above.
