Not sure if ya'll are familiar with this concept or not. I first read about it in the "Bastard Operator From Hell" columns on "The Register". Basically it entails using enough jargon to entrance, or otherwise confuse a user or customer. This could also be calles an overflow or stack dump on the part of the victim. The desired effect is achived when a mental screen-saver becomes apparent in the eyes of said victim.
As of the last time I used this method of dealing with people I found it very effective. Some people had been pestering one of my co-workers about cleaning up some cables that were laying under an open desk in a noticeable area of the office. It was their printer, and their radio chargers, but since we did maintainance on them they thought we had to "tidy up". This didn't agree with me or my co-worker so I began.
"Well, we could move and rearrange the cables, but that would require a few things. First we would need to recalculate the inductive impendance of the multiple lines and add capacitive impendance to the printer server to compensate. That's okay as long as we don't have to rewrite the subroutines to access the new modules. The other issue is that sometimes that will vary the latence of the line and results can vary from slow data throughput to garbled characters."
As the jaws slowly dropped and the eyes went into "screen saver" I could see my work there was done. Soon me and my co-worker was out of said task and in the last six months he has not been asked again.
