Default Mojo is Back...

It feels great returning to post here at twl since last June... I have been so busy in the summer/fall from Football and Vacation and the like, but there is another reason why I haven't posted since then that I think all of you might enjoy reading.

Let the tale begin.....

One day in June, I've decided to overclock my Radeon 8500(128mb version) by downloading the latest version of Riva Tuner. I felt great power emerging as I upped both the core clock and the memory clock to 300MHz from 275/275. I felt very awesome getting 40+ fps in Battlefield 1942 at 1024x768 and medium settings, from getting around 20 fps before I overclocked with the same settings. Finally, Ithought to myself, I don't lag like hell.

After a couple weeks of sucessful results and performance, something I never thought of happening happened. I turned on the computer one morning as a daily ritual right when I get up from bed, and noticed something unusual: It would freeze during boot-up in DOS. After a couple restarts thinking it would go away, It would go in some restarting frenzy so somehow I managed to open the windows xp repair from the cd in dos, and let it repair. I went downstairs to get some chow while it "repaired" an I noticed something unusual: Why the hell can't I hear "The Jet"? I call my Volcano 7+ the Jet for obvious reasons, mostly because it sounds like a jet. I ran back upstairs and lo and behold, the cpu(2000+) was running while the cpu fan was off. My whole room smelt like burnt silicon. The culprit was the fan speed switch connected to one of the power supply jacks wasnt in tightly.

Anyways, I quickly turned off the computer. Then after adjusting the jack I tried to turn on the computer again only to fry mobo(ECS K7S5A, total crap) too. Yep, pretty sad indeed.

Well at the time i was desperate as you can tell, but I paid for what I asked for. Miracuasly, I sold my collection of older video cards and other parts to get enough money for my new system. I havent put everything together yet because I'm waiting for my video card, so far here are the specs:

Athlon XP 2500+ oc'd to 3200+
A7N8X Deluxe mobo
Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro(just ordered it; on its way, $288 at newegg )
Bought Jason425's corsair twinX XMS Low Latency 2x 256mb pc3200

Just found out Jason425 is now a mod... twl must be pretty desperate these days... j/k.... Rogue is the man... and Mojo is back! >
