is 250 what you are going to spend or thats what you have now and will get more?

because you cant get decent 19' LCD for below 300

do you need it for gaming?

I did a bunch of researching on lcd's. Turns out no 19" lcd's are any good for games, they just haven't gotten them fast enough at that size yet. It's hard to find a good gaming lcd at all, let alone for 19". Also, 19" is a lot more expensive. If you're going 19" prepare to spend AT LEAST $500 for a good one. The 17" i'm getting is around $500 retail, but I got it for 430 on ebay. (nec 1760nx)

im gonna work my ass of during winter break 5-8 hours a day for 8-12 days

8 x 7.35 x 12 = 705 - taxes

anyway

I would use it for a little gaming....not too much....how bad are the screens? i mean....what do the games look like are they slow FPS? grainy?

ghosting is the only problem (well some problems with darker colors)

as in it cant refresh the pixel fast enough in games and stuff so it looks like its blurring (some people compare it to max payne 2 dream scenes) i compare it to nfs underground "blur mode"

sent this mail to view sonic asking about that monitor Ill post a reply when i get it lets see how much BS they try to give me as marketing

I’m considering purchasing a 19 inch LCD screen.

I am a little wary thought because I like to play graphic intensive games a lot and 500-700 dollars is a lot of money to a 15 year old guy

I am hearing from all over that “ghosting” is particularly a problem along with other things I asked the people in the link I am going to provide below.

http://techwarelabs.com/community/viewtopic.php?p=34649#34649

My question is: What is the ETA for when LCD 19 inch monitors will not have this problem?

Another one

What makes the VG910s LCD Display different from any other LCD monitor? It says it is for extreme gaming but I don’t know if its marketing or not.

definately not made for gaming

anything more than 20ms of respond time will ghost
usually they are 25ms
what you want is 16ms

if you really want to game, go back to 17' sized LCDs and maybe looking into the hyundai one which is cheap and fast

what about this one?

Never heard of it. Sometimes manufacturer straight lie, and others the only time they get to the rated response time is by only displaying 64,000 (or something) colors. Definiately read reviews. I don't buy anything anymore without looking at several different reviews for a product.

cheap for a 20" maybe, but still real expensive for any montior, and even more doubtful that it's good for games. They say that it's best to try the monitor in person, as everybody's tolerance levels are different.

So that smear/ghosting is worse with larger screens? Because I have a cheaper 15" LCD, and I've never had any problems like that with my games. The closest problem I've run into is it gets blurry at low resolutions, and I mean anywhere. It's really noticable on the windows desktop.

Prometheus

yeah

its easier to spread pixels over shorter distances

Yes, when you're not at the highest (or native) resolution with lcd's, they have to "interpolate" the pixels which basically makes them look fuzzy. With the more $ lcd's, you usually need a more $ video card to run games fast with the hig res. $ leads to more $.. :/

Athlon 3200
ATI Radeon 9800 pro 256
Samsung Syncmaster 191t
Running the native resolution I have not had ghosting or tearing when playing, ut, ut2k3, ut2k4demo, hl, mohaa, cod or any other game.
I have never tried anything other than native settings so I can't say if these problems never happen.
