Im going to frys this weekend with the intent of buying more RAM

My Specs now

p4 1.5 oc 1.7
512 ddr ram
geforce fx5900

Would more RAM be good and if so how much?

Budget of 250 but would prefer lower

Frys has 512 sitck for 59.00

I never seen a noticable increase in performance between 512 and 1024 in games... on the otherhand, windows gladly used the extra ram and noticed apps going alot faster... esp. photoshop, 3dStudio max, and office... just to name very few

i wouldn't get ram.. your comp is already mediocre imo and more ram wouldn't help

just out of curiousity, what type of ram do you have and is that a 5900 ultra or non-ultra?

Hopefully it is a non-ultra. This (http://theinquirer.net/?article=13576) should explain.

"Update Some readers are reporting difficulties after trying this mod. Beware, you fiddle at your own risk... " - from the site

.......as with almost every mod of the like

negative... some mods are more risky and hard to do than others.. easy mod = 9500 to 9700.. hard is 9800 to 9800se.. it all depends....

Well how is it easy if just recently you did the 9500 to 9700? I remembered you couldnt do that for a long time?
