My favorite car has always been a truck. SPAMSpent my whole driving life in trucks (except one bout with a 76 Chevy Nova.) SPAMI just like my 4-Wheel Drive V-8, mud sliggin, stump pulling trucks. SPAMAnd as long as I can I'll be driving one. SPAMSure you pass me in your sports car. SPAMBut when you pull in to a Gas Station I'll drive over you and your car. SPAM;D

ok, i can see where ur coming from, but would u take something like a Ford SVT Lightning?

Bear
06-10-2002, 02:38 AM
Honestly I do not know how a Ford SVT Lightning looks
like, there is lots of nice fast cars Ferrari, BMW, Porshe
Toyota celica WTC , many of the WTC class are nice.

vee_ess
06-10-2002, 03:39 AM
the Ford Lightning is a high performance truck...
http://www.svt.ford.com/flash/images/gallery/02_Lightning_turn.jpg

For me, I really like two cars...the Jaguar XJ220S TWR as shown below, and the Volvo 850 series, especially special editions. We have one and it goes 0 - 60 in roughly 5 and we waste unsuspecting Vettes in this stock "family sedan". It's handling is beautiful too.

Grinnin Reaper
06-10-2002, 11:03 AM
The 4-wheel drive lightnings are nice (and yes they used to make them in 4-wheel drive, I'm not sure if they still do). SPAMBut I don't like 2-wheel drive trucks. SPAMJust defeats the purpose in my book. SPAMBut then again I live in the Mountains and have seen 3 and 4 feet of snow at one time. SPAMNothing moves much in that but at least in 2 to 3 feet of snow I'll be goin' somewhere while every one else is huddled 'round the fire.

Now this is the MOTHER of all cars!!! SPAM 0-60 in 3.0 FLAT!!!

- 7 speed
- 650 bhp
- V-12
- 0-60 : 3.0 sec
- 0-100 : 6.3 sec (that beats most cars in 0-60!!!)

SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM !!!MY PERSONAL FAVORITE!!!

06-13-2002, 12:48 AM
The F60 is a nice and fast car, but I can't get my hands on one of those. So a Mustang cobra will suffice for now.

MIK3
06-13-2002, 01:04 AM
Make sure that it is a Mustang Cobra R, $55,449!!! SPAMNot bad for a car that does 0-60 in 4.3!!! SPAMMight i ad a nice 385 hp V8, 4.6L ( although ford should have stayed w/ there nice 5.0's)

How about the ugly looking Doge Vipers ?
Saw them on TV yesterday racing in the GT class
700 horse powers and ugly SPAM;D

vee_ess
06-13-2002, 02:53 AM
Vipers are stupid...they just tried to put gobs and gobs of power by using a modified HD truck engine and puttin it into a car. Didn't work. Beats the Vette, sure, but I know of a "family sedan" that can beat the RT10's (0 - 60 in 4.8). The GTS and GTS R are faster than that @ 4.3, but they are trying to get around engineering. That is why a V8 (that's is less than half of the size of that 8L engine in the Viper) is placed in a well-engineered car, the Lotus Esprit (pronounced eh - spree, not e spirit), and kicks the crap out of any of the Vipers at the price of the RT10!!! And it is a whole lot more exotic too!!!

MIK3
06-13-2002, 03:36 AM
Ah, but would the poor man go after over priced exotic car or nicely tuned power machine, for much less! SPAMMan if u could tell me a "family seday" that could go 0-60 in less then 4.0 seconds , please tell me, cuz i will get my but up right now and go buy it!!! Well they aint that bad to tell ya the truth! SPAMNot bad at all! SPAMYeah i think that the new look for the snake car is pretty vicious too. SPAMBut it beats the pants off the older look, expecially the crappy '93. SPAMI certainly would take it, but a bit to pricey...heck what am i talking about pricey, im the one posting Ferraris everywhere!!! Also known as the "Hyper Viper" it comes w/ about 500 HP, its called the "Hyper"-Dodge Viper SRT-10.
This pretty car does 0-60 in 4.0 sec, comes w/ an 8.3L SPAMV-10, and nicely priced at around $73,000! clocked at over 195 mph, thats pretty good for a 70 grand car!!! Also, it did the 1/4 mile in 12 flat, not bad at all! SPAMBut it is a heavy 3400 lbs, so that would definantley put drag on it!!! There is also an 833 Viper out, but thats a review for another day!!! Well not to sound like a spokes person, but i kinda like the car, it gives Doge a whole new attitude! SPAM Tell me this aint a pretty car!

vee_ess
06-13-2002, 03:37 AM
Did you know that that Modena up in the first post had its aerodynamics actually designed by their F1 engineers? It has one of the lowest drag coefficients to date, only surpassed by a handful of cars, including the "banana car" which I believe was created in the 80's by either GM or Chrysler which was tied for first. And you guessed it, it was shaped like a banana.

MIK3
06-13-2002, 07:20 PM
Yeah im guessing that it is kinda both in that case! Im sure that that truck is pretty nice, i like them as well...but if ur into the XK versions of the pretty jags, might i suggest a pretty looking car...i think that u would like this as well...this XKR is almost identical to the XK8, but comes with much higher performance! SPAMTell me if u dont like this one....

vee_ess
06-14-2002, 12:13 AM
Yeah, the XK8 is a reincarnation of the legendary XKE, the E-type. The E-type is undisputedly the most beautiful car to ever be built. Here is a picture of one, but pictures don't do this car justice; if you get the opportunity to see one in real life, don't miss it, you won't regret.

Once again, I must say, pictures don't do this car justice.

MIK3
06-14-2002, 01:59 AM
Man i know exacly what ur talking about, this car sure does pack a good punch!! SPAMYeah the E-type is what really gave a good name to Jaguar! SPAMThis car may look like a toilet to and uneducated onlooker, but if u know my cars like me and apparenely vee_ess...u know that this car is a lion trapped inside a mouse's skin! SPAMI wouldnt mind taking this car for a spin! SPAMHeck i know that this car would easily take a '65 Stingray anytime, being the fasted car of its day, 1965 that is lol! SPAMHere's a lil bette pic of it...

Basically, my friend got this from someone who couldn't pay the loan off for it. SPAMThey took it for parts. SPAMAfter sitting in their back yard for about 3 years, I mentioned making driving it around their gokart track. SPAMSo after a little work(taking the doors off, removing the hood and trunk, and getting the engine running again) we where off. SPAM(Oh, I better mention, this is not my house. SPAMThe person in the car is my friends sister. SPAMAnd if you look at any of my other pictures, you'll probably see my friend and his brother.)

Now to be more serious, my favorite car would have to be a Jeep Cherokee. SPAMGreat onroad and offroad. SPAMWhats really fun is when someone in a "supped up" Civic wants infront of you, and you blow them away in a SUV SPAM;D SPAMBut why did they quit making the Cherokee and came out with that stupid Liberty? SPAMIt's pretty close to a Cherokee, but I hate the new body design...

Very sweet looking civilized version. SPAMI'll still race ya. SPAM4-wheelin is more than just the vehicle, it takes guts, and the willingness to damage/destroy your vehicle and yourself. SPAMI haven't 4-wheeled in years, last time I stuck my jeep so well, SPAMwe thought a helicopter would be necessary to get us out. SPAM(the winch was under mud) SPAMMy buddy Don had to winch me out. :-[

Bear
06-15-2002, 10:46 AM
Havn't done any SPAM4 wheeling, well once visiting Whasington state in winter time a 4 wheel bronco was stuck in a snowy
ditch I just got in and drow out of the ditch I guess my
experince with the snow in Sweden paid off.
I had a 58 chevy panelwagon with a straight longblock six
and granny gear while living in ca. got stuck on a sandy
beech following tracks from other truck (probably 4 wd)
but we gut out when my friend with dessert experience
remembered that one just have to let a lot of air out
of the tires, down to 6-10 psi and the wheels didn't dig down
any longer so SPAMI just drow out with no problem.

MIK3
06-15-2002, 07:36 PM
Sure you need determination and all of that to go 4 weelin', but this baby makes a Hummer look like a Yugo! SPAMNo comparisson, at all! SPAMI got all the determination right here, Grave Digger style!!! SPAMNow if anyone would love ot challenge me to a off-road race...be my guest...because off-road for this killer is like water for a fish...

Grinnin Reaper
06-15-2002, 10:13 PM
Determantion is great but you need knowledge. SPAM Bump that rear-steer in Grave digger and you be eatin' grass and lookin at the sky through your own butt-hole. SPAMI've even seen grave digger go rubber side up with a pro at the wheel. SPAMSkill my friend, skill will get you there and back. SPAMAnd when all else fail improvise. SPAMI've busted snow drifts deeper than my hood was tall but just standing on the throttle won't get you anywhere but deeper (under certain circumstances). SPAMI was muddin' once and hit a pit that had two sets of tracks. SPAMI got cocky and took the middle, one rut from each side. SPAMBig mistake, the center was solid. SPAMI went from 25 to 0 in 6 inches. SPAMEnded up finding two trees, jacking up the truck by the bumber (which was on the ground, solid center holding up truck with 4 tires hanging in mid air in the deep, deep ruts). SPAMShoving the trees under locking it in 4-low and holding it to the floor in reverse. One of the logs kicked up and ripped off a skid plate but I got out. SPAMEverything's diffrent snow ain't mud and sand is it's own ball of wax. SPAMBut if your comfortable in your rig you can fare well in all of it. SPAMHorsepower can get you there, but there can be 20 feet up a tree, over a cliff, under 10 feet of mud and water, or in a body cast. SPAMBe careful have fun and never spit in front of women or children.

MIK3
06-16-2002, 01:38 AM
Ah...but it has quadrasteer...four wheel steering so even if u were to bump me in the back ( anything smaller that a fellow moster truck would just get eaten alive!!!) I would still have the front to regain my balance! Besides when your in one of those mosters, you dont need to worry about anything getting in your way, i mean you got your 1200 hp to guide you so....there just to big, to powerfull, and to underestimated...

rivergod
06-16-2002, 07:38 AM
And they do'n fit under trees well. SPAMThe monster trucks do best in a stadium rolling over cars. SPAMToo tall, Too Top-heavy. SPAM I'll stay with the Hummer. (Although I do like your civilized version)

MIK3
06-16-2002, 01:16 PM

When I was in school one of my projects was to create a company profile, business plan, etc. for an internet provider service.

I wanted the to name the company Professional Internet Group. When I went to check the domain name registrations, that name was already taken. Everyone in my class was a real cut up, including the instructor - I was a little on the quite side. One night my instructor said "You should learn a lesson from our Professional Pig and get to work!" So that is where I got my name.

By the way -All the business plans were graded by somebody that was actually an Internet Service Provider! I was the only one in the class to get an A.

SPAMThe Chevy goes first and is pulled into the water because the boat was too much for it to handel, so the ppl in the truck start to worry. SPAMThen the guy w/ the Ford gets in his truck and says something like " oh great " and takes his truck and tows the Chevy out of the water and the boat that went w/ it as well. SPAMSo the ppl that owned the Chevy said "man that sure sank" and the Ford guy said "yup...like a rock!" SPAM- SPAMFunny sh*t cuz Chevys motto is "Like a Rock"

i agree thoroughly..unargueablly the best car in that entire movie...and then the GT500 comes in an extremely close second..but the XJ220 has it by performance and value..but lacks in style..but it is still a darn pretty car...take a look-see

ok so i added the chick in there to give the look a boost....

Not liking the looks is one thing, that is your personal opinion, but saying it lacks in style...

I mean, come on...

g

And don't forget those amazing stats...For example, it pushes out 200+HP/L. I believe it is the highest of any street car. The XJ220 is a whole different class from the GT500, but don't get me wrong, the GT500 is one of my faves.

yes i can see where your comming from, vee_ess, but u do know that this car is a few years old..i think that it is time for a face lift...but the TWR..now that is much prettier that the standard XJ 220..the front w/ the headlights make it look a lot nicer and the higher spoiler give it the more sleeker looks it deserves...but this is predominantly one of the best cars ever mad on earth...and i feel that it will be a while until a company decides to prove then wrong..but that XJ 220 TWR...yeah its stylin'...but stylin just cant compare to to the overwhelming power that this car posseses as well.

Thanks for the complements, but you should of seen the jeep when I got it. SPAMThe outside looked alright, but the inside... SPAMBIG rip in the seat, 3 cracks in the dash, and was really dirty... SPAMAfter that was all cleaned up and repaired, I started having some engine problem. SPAMTurns out, the previous owners hadn't changed the oil for over 70,000 miles :o. vee_ess

Actually Ilike both of them about the same. From an enthusiast's view, I would have to go with GISS, but they didn't show the cars enough.

Omega
09-01-2002, 10:00 PM
While I liked them both a fair amount, I'm going to have to lean towards Fast and the Furious. I'm not entirely sure what about it makes me go for it more than Gone in Sixty Seconds, though.

In GISS it seems like they didn't really focus all that much on the cars, as they did on the people and the task. In FATF they also did more high-speed stuff than GISS. They seemed to have more high-tech gizmos in FATF too, like the onboard car statistics monitors, etc.

MIK3
09-01-2002, 11:10 PM
Ah yes...the onboard car statistical laptop reading system (lol, nice name huh?) caught my eye quite well when he pulled that up in his Eclipse. I also liked Vin Diesle's stereo system configuration...omg, that was so beautiful. I would have to say that I can not make up my mind for the best car. There is a tie between Dom's red RX-7, and the orange Supra. I'd have to say that the best race was between the Supra and the black Ferrari 355.

Ah, but the overall concept of the 2 vehicles is pure shocking. You figure, the 360 Modena would kill that 67' GT500 with easy, and the XJ200 would eat the 360 Modena alive. The XJ200 was one of the most supreme vehicles every created on the street leagal market. Sure that Shelby is a facinatingly sweet piece of eye candy, but is not to be competed against the daddies of the show (XJ220 and 360 Modena)

And yes, that McLaren F1 GT ('97) is a pretty nice car...in 0-60, it is equally matched with the XJ220S TWR ('94)...at 3.3 seconds, however, the Ferrari F60 ('02) does 0-60 in a mear 3.1...nice vehicle, and aproximately the price of a McLaren F1, but out of those 3, i would have to take the TWR mearly because it is nearly half the price of the other 2 competors and is just as fast, mechanically and physically.

Acceleration-wise, the TWR has all of them. They have gotten it 0-60 in 2.9 (Fastest of any stock car). It has really good acceleration the whole way up though, and it has the best handling. For me, I don't care about the last few miles an hour on the straigt-aways, because I'll smoke you on the corners http://216.40.241.68/contrib/sarge/Blurp_anim.gif.

im wondering what if you have a K&N filter in a sucky Ford Escort 98' Wagon LE, how much would it increse its performance?

whats O2?

accurateimage
09-22-2002, 10:40 PM
Well anytime you increase airflow to an engine it will help your revs and top end but can actually hurt your bottom end if it is natually asperated. If it is a drop in filter then you would be fine and you would probably gain around 5-6hp on that car. Also an 02 sensors is a sensor that is in your exhaust pipe close to the header. It reads the air fuel ratio and sends a signal to your engines computer to up the mixture ot decrease it. Changing out an old o2 sensor can have a great affect on gas milage and power.

MIK3
09-22-2002, 10:43 PM
Well ET, If your talkin about K&N Air Filters..they'll run ya about $50 or so..and will increase your car's performance ~10%. I'm planin on buy myself one for my accord as well. O2 is NOS, I belive, right AI?

accurateimage
09-22-2002, 10:47 PM
Oh no, O2 is an oxygen sensor, but I do carry various nos kits, but I am not a fan of them, I prefere turbocharging or supercharging, or just a plain built engine. Also K&N filters vary from $25-$100, and I also carry the intakes, FIPK's ect... Basically everything K&N makes.

whats the use of Nitro???

i disagree very much with street racing

if you like speed and show off, get on a track with safety features

dont do it on the road and kill ppl

just in September, about 4 people were killed in different street racing accidents in Vancouver, BC Canada

one of them is a police officer driving his Ford Crown Victoria Cruiser
5 star side impact rating, yet, smashed right through by a honda civic driving 180km/h on a street...

sad really...
and parents should be responsible for their children's actions
dont just give them a car and dont care about what they do with it, it is parents' responsibilities to prevent them making fatal mistakes

MIK3

One could do it without windshield and do other precautions

Grinnin Reaper
10-10-2002, 08:42 AM
You want to know the truth. A windshield can't "shatter" Only side and rear glass. Windshields are made of laminated glass so they spiderweb. For the most part a windshield will stay intact only fracture. Side glass can basically explode into small fragements. I studied that in auto-extracation class (cutting accident victims from cars with the "Jaws-of-Life") when I first became a fire fighter. And trust me I've seen enough car wrecks to know that that is the way it happens. Luckily I haven't had to see anyone "airbaging" yet. I just hope if they do that they use trees, boulders, and Mountain sides. If your going to be stupid don't take other people with you.

eviltechie
10-10-2002, 03:14 PM
lol
they spiderweb when hit with low momentum for eg. even at a high speed, a small rock is still ok

but ive seen a 92' camaro crashed, totaled the front, windshield broke into pieces

not small pieces but rather large pieces and about 10 of them

and even tempered glass can be broken with a heavy mass of object at high velocity

MIK3
10-11-2002, 06:32 PM
Im guessing Grin was talking about the majority of car wrecks do the winsheilds spiderweb. Of course the glass will shatter when a front is totalled, that is the whole point of saying it was totalled, lol.

eviltechie
10-11-2002, 11:17 PM
well when 2 cars playing chicken and rams each other heads on, it is natural that both fronts will be totalled...

:shake: tsk tsk tsk... still not something i would like to do or even see...

MIK3
10-12-2002, 12:09 AM
That is true, I would not like to see that either. There's one rule that I like to keep in the back of my head, "No matter if your the smartest and best driver in the world, you could always get hit because of that certain stupid driver out there....they are everywhere..."

vee_ess
10-12-2002, 03:17 AM
They use safety glass in windshields which have certain plastic elements so that the edges are rarely ever sharp. It can sometimes be sharp so don't test it!

Grinnin Reaper
10-12-2002, 05:49 AM
What I was saying is it won't shatter as in explode and send a rain of small pieces down on everyone. If you hit it hard enough the large chunks will seperate. But it won't fragment into chuncks like tempered glass will. I've pulled out mutliple victims from accidents ranging from 80 to 120 mph at time of impact. Never seen a windshield not stay mostly intact, cracked to beat all hell, sections found elsewhere, but largely intact. Tempered glass like side and rear glass your lucky to find any chuncks over an inch or two big.

there have been too many people killed by street racing in Vancouver

I didn't know street racing was so big up there. I hate scrapping up people that was doing something stupid, but on the other side of the coin I was never accused of being a completly law abiding citizen. Like I said in my first reply it's a shame people would do something like this. I just got off on a tangent. Sorry. My mind wanders. If some of these people had to pull some corpses out of cars maybe they would thing twice about this crap. Especially if it was some people they knew. Unfortunately they don't care and it's the family that was in the wrong place at the wrong time that also pays the price for the other people's ingnorance.

road rage is insane too

last week, a 49 years old woman in Burnaby, near vancouver got into some disputes with another car with 4 men in it

she then started writting the licenses plate down on a paper then the 4 men walked out and beated her up in broad day light and tried to throw her into the trunk
thankfully she managed to escape...

also last week, one mini van with the driver of a mom carrying her son were the victoms of a roadrage also
the roadrager smashed the window of driver's side with a iron bar and left

RCMP has been investigating such cases and more for a long time now, but there is almost no way to stop it from happening again

this society is really messed up

I don't see much road rage in West Virginia but in New Jersey and New York city I did a lot. But that's they way it is up there. Poeple need to chill out a bit. Everyone is gettin in too much of a hurry and everyone acts so stressed (I do to once in awhile). Problem is I don't see it gettin' better any time soon.

with my concerns going over drive...
especialy with the discussions on here

im joining my school's Counter-Attack Club

yup

anti drink and drive
anti street racing
and all that...

im really fed up with these East Indians, Japanese, Chinese, Cantonese, Taiwanese racing on the streets

im a chinese too (taiwanese to be precise)

i have to encourage these ppl and let them know that driving is like running with a knife on your hand

...or...if your a well trained, obidiant driver...it could be like running in a big pillow...where you cannot get hurt...you have to remeber, there are way more non-accidents, then there are accidents...i feel that rush when im on the street, but all the smarter drivers will find some way of talking themselves out of that rage...i do...even if i cant drive yet...

Even if you are calm most of the time, there is always the chance that you will become enraged after someone cut you off etc. It is sad that people need to die because of some hotshot thinking that he/she rules the streets. What is really surprising is that most of these incidents of road rage came to be from small things.
Soccer_stud of course you a rush when going fast in a car, but just remember that speed might get you in trouble.

If you are thinking about the safety of pedestrians then sure cops will be looking to get you if you going faster than the speed limit. But if you are driving a fast car on the freeway, by all means go as fast as you want.

ss, you dont even drive a car
when you do, seriously, you will be scared...
because of all the factors you have to watch out for

driving is like walking with a double sided knife in your hand

in a building, there are rules and people dont run
now if 10% of the people starts running with the knife
some one will get killed eventually
and including the driver too will eventually be killed

Soccer_Stud and eviltechie, both have good comments. A couple months ago I was driving on an Aterial Street and I was at an intersection and the light turned yellow. I couldn't stop so I keep going. There was a car making a left turn and didn't stop. I had to go around that car cuz it already started to turn. He must have been in a hurry cuz he thought I was going to stop. I was about a foot away from having an accident. He should have stopped and looked to see what I was going to do.
You can be the best driver and still get impatient idiots on the street waiting to cause an accident.

at least once a day (8 hrs/day driving) there are many careless drivers out there.

I saw a TV program about train crasches with cars and trucks
so many ppeople trying to "beat" the train running under gates

The force of the train hitting car was compared
with beer can hit by car !
A train going 5 mph sweeps an 18 wheeler away

Did you know that that Modena up in the first post had its aerodynamics actually designed by their F1 engineers? Well i have an '88 olds cutlais calais limited "usa" edition.. got it for $750 from some guy my grandpa knows.. pretty much nothing worked when i got it.. now only the horn and power locks don't work and that's because some fuse keeps blowing .. Turns out the previous owner was a retard and had like 90% of the car on the same circuit.. 20 amps or whatever. So when i got my new radio (kenwood kdc-122) they just put the radio on the ignition fuse instead cuz the other one kept blowing.. I've got a black stripe down the middle of the hood and i've got a spoiler on the back (with some solar panel.. dunno wtf it does?) It runs pretty well most of the time.. Only trouble i had with it running was when i put in fuel injector cleaner.. ran like crap for that day.. but it's fine now! 8) Don't have pics or i'd put it up

Aemon_

what are you talking about? the 4.3L out of an S-10 is a stinkin strong little motor. especially the older 4.3s, they are basically a chevy 350 with 2 cylinders cut off. most 350 parts will fit on the 4.3. nice little motor. i'm sorry to see it go

edit: oh yeah, an S-10 can handle much more power than the 4.3, the 350 swap is very common.

Grinnin Reaper

but it still can take it.

but i was saying before was putting the 4.3 out of the S-10 into a Datsun 240z

Grinnin Reaper
02-26-2004, 06:22 PM

02-28-2004, 02:31 PM
The 4.3L engines were supposed to last a long time, too, for American engines at least. I like Ford better though. Of all the big automotive powers, they are the only ones that don't ruin the car companies they buy, they keep them going the same way just use their technologies in Ford's own products.

Aemon_
02-28-2004, 07:02 PM
lol how is S10 going to handle that much power?
i just realized what you said. the 4.3L is a stock S-10 engine (thats how it handles that much power, it is stock). i was saying transplant the 4.3 to a 240z. now, the 240z is the original iteration of the Z car line. so the 4.3 would be much more powerful than the stock 4 cylinder out of it. i have even seen 350s swapped into 240Zs.

The 350's are nice engines (even though they are Chevy's :P). A friend of mine has a 72 Custom with one in it and it moves pretty decently I have to say. I don't really like hybrids but that's because I sort of feel the idea was stolen from me... When GM came out with the EV1, I said why not put a gas generator on the car because it can only go 80 miles on a charge, to which my dad responded, you may as well have the engine running the vehicle. Then I rebuttled with saying yeah but you could use all the power you are wasting in idle and stuff so it will still be more efficient. I just needed to vent. You can believe me or you can think I'm full of it, I don't really care, but it's true that did happen (this talk was actually spurred because at the time my dad had put the car into neutral to use less gas than letting the engine slow the car down as we went up the off ramp).

Glad to see this thread is back up and running. Heh. Yeah, I don't know what the deal is with Hybrids...

It'll be near hell in gas prices before we see an increase in sales of these things. And an even longer time than that to see any performance come out of them...

Yeah, the Evo will almost stay with a Murcielago, but only til 60mph, after which the Murcielago will show the power of brute force. Let handling into the picture, and you'll show the disparity between leagues.

Also, American cars, with the exception of Chrysler (they still have a number of larger engines), have dropped dramatically in engine size. This is mainly due to the fact that American car factories were remodeled to reflect Japanese factories in the late eighties and early nineties. This has dramatically increased the reliability of Americans, with the exception of Chryslers, of course.

I may have already mentioned it already but my favorite car has to be the Nissan Skyline, particularly the R34 but all R32's and up are really really nice. I saw a 1990 R32 GTR yesterday in my city, which is sweet because I've never seen a Skyline in person before because they are just starting to show up in Canada, reason being you can't have them here unless they are 15 years old or older so just now are we seeing the R32's roaming the streets and oh baby! *breathe* The Subaru Impreza WRX STi rocks my socks too. ....er no way i've seen an Evo VIII FQ400 been driven by a fat middleaged motor journalist keep up (and not almost nearly overtake) with a Lamborghini Murcielago driven by a professional race driver round a race circuit and the evo kept up and was better through the corners and it was a road evo not a rally evo. Unless you meant let the handling of the evo into the picture?

and Tyler skylines rock i've heard the crazy japs got one up to 1000hp.

Not to sound like I've got a thing for evo's but the Evo VIII is faster than the The Subaru Impreza WRX STi and the tires squeal like a girl on the Subaru, and evo's look better.

I forgot one more car I'd like the Atom its got a supercharged Honda engine develops 300bhp, but the car only weighs 500kg and that means it equals 600bhp per tonne (that's more than a Ferrari Enzo). It also does 0-60mph in 2.9 seconds, as long as you can change gear quick enough.
It's only £20,000 but its a bit like a motorbike, with four wheels, no windscreen no cd player and you can see the road beneath you but who cares 0-60 in 2.9 secs for £20,000!!!!!

The Maxda RX-8 is a sick car, in my opinion. approximatly 75lb engine that produces around 250hp, whats not to like? And with only one moving part in the engine (The free floating rotor) they are quite quiet.

I don't really like the enzo.. esp new new imported ones.. i just think they should use more than a 190hp celica engine.

Stinky, I am not sure where you heard the Enzo has a 190HP Toyota engine, but I'd sure like to see that source.

One car that really hands it to the Evo 8, STi, and other higher performance Japs is the VX 220 and the VXR 220. I sure hope they send those across the Atlantic!

Please, please tell me that wasn't just read.

I think that alone is the reason I will never bring up another thread relating to cars in a tech forum again

I'm not sure which "new imported" ones you are talking about, but to the best of my knowledge, there is only one type of Ferrari Enzo. No...that can't be the same 660bhp 485ft/lbs tq V12 that I'm talking about. But I mean, the day you get a stock celica doing 11 second quarter miles and 3.3 second 0-60mph run times, you report back to me, and see if I believe ya. :wavey: Heh...this car almost has as much bhp per in one if its six liters as an entire celica. Impressive, I think so.

I read it an a Consumer Reports Magazine from their New Car Issue. They did a quick rundown of a ton of cars. It was at the dentists office a couple weeks ago, I was just as surprised as you guys. It was the most recent New Car, I dont remember the month, shoulndt be more than 2 months ago. Keep in mind this is the Imported version of the enzo and they are very limited according to Consumer Reports. They also said that 190hp engine fit nicely in the ultra light enzo. I tried lookign at consumerreports.com for that issue but y ou have to be a subscriber

HAHAHAHA  an enzo with 190 hp i don't think ferrari would allow that even if they were imports!
Imagine their reputation for making the finest sports cars in the world years of heritage would be in tatters and you would think that they would use a ferrari engine not a toyota if they were going to put in a 190 hp engine.
Are you sure it said enzo and not some other random korean car? If it is enzo they are lying and you should never believe them ever again.

Has anyone mention the Mclaren F1 I know its a bit of a dream car (only 100 made and 25 are race spec, but the enzo must be preettyhard to get hold of) but 240mph and 200 mph in only 28 seconds woo!

Yeah, here is just one of many places to go for more info

The 2ZZ-GE engine used in Elise is borrowed from the Celica GT-S, and it shares the same 6-speed manual transmission and gear ratios as the top Celica model.

http://www.sandsmuseum.com/cars/elise/thecar/engine/toyota.html

and apparantly this isn't a new thing they have been doing, that article is over a year old. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

The thing with cars like the elise and the mini cooper is its not about the engine its about the handling, my mate used to have a cooper and it was like riding round in a super gokart it was really cool but cramped (im 6,2) anyway the exige is like a super version of the elize

The Exige is definately a nice version of the Elise. The Elise has always used Jap engines under the hood, the creators (mainly, it was the son of the creator of the Esprit) wanted to focus on making an exceptional track car. Hence why people always complain about the ride quality and comfort of the Elise. Their base Elise uses a Yamaha block. Either way the Vauxhall VXR-220 (http://www.fast-autos.net/vauxhall/vauxhallvxr220.html) (which happens to have been co-designed by the Elise design crew) is a better overall car and kills all the Japs, even the R34.

Doubt it would beat an exige s2 (in fact i know it wouldnt iv seen the track results to prove it) the exige is built with the philosophy that its a race car for the road, although the VXR is a fast car.

And I don't think the normal VX 220 is better than the normal elise.

And theres one problem with the vauxhall, its a vauxhall, it maybe a good car but it got a vauxhall badge on the front which to me screams that its a bad car even tho its an ok car but a lotus badge says racing heritage.

Vauxhall are famed for having the handling qualities of bricks, my friend Phil a rally driver and rally mechanic dispises them.

Lotus is definately more for the collectors. The point however, is that for $40k USD, both the Lotus and Vauxhall will give you track level handling, but the Lotus will not be even close in acceleration or top speed. You'll need to go with the highest level Elise Sport or Exige to hit the 12 second quarters, which will top $100k. If money's not a factor, then of course the Lotus is the better choice. A Lotus is a Lotus, and right now, other than about 4 or 5 supercars, all at least $300k or more, there's nothing that will handle better on the street. Of course, in 2008, there'll likely be nothing short of an F1 car to compete with the new Esprit.

Suppose youve got a point if were talking value vauxhall then, How much is the vxr 220 i thought that was the super version of the vx 220?
