What is it with XP?
It seems everyone I know is using XP. They tell me it's the fastest, the best, the most reliable. All I've gotten from it is crap! I recently couldn't find my 2000 disk(probably in one of my other CD-ROM drives, just too lazy to check...) so I figured I'd give XP another change. I have it loaded on my main machine(1.4GHz Athlon) my video editor(PIII 733) and my file server(AMD K6-2 533)
There is an obvious performace decrease in Flash videos, they run MUCH slower than before if I go full screen. No improvement after installing correct drivers and DirectX. My CD-Burner also won't work. It's a new 52x24x52 that worked great with 2000. I guess I should say I think it is working, but not with Nero, just that crappy windows buring software.
My video computer isn't quite so bad. Burner still works, and the XP drivers for it's GF2 seem to work well. However, I am droping frames unlike I did with 2000, a HUGE problem in video editing. ANd sometimes when scrolling though videos in Premiere, every window goes white untill I release the mouse, a rather odd problem I didn't have with 2000.
I installed XP on my server mainly because I was being lazy and didn't want to set much up. Over all, it runs pretty well on that system, but I am having problems with boot times.
And on all my systems, there seems to be an overall decrease in system performace. Maybe I'm just having bad luck, but I HATE windows XP...
(sorry about the long post... ignor or delete it if you guys want. I'm just annoyed and kinda needed to let some anger out...)
