hello! i'm facing this situation: i have recently acquired a new intel p4 3.2ghz with 2x120gb sata wd hdisks and i installed windows xp sp1 in the first disk (c:). now, a week later i want to install a copy of windows 98 se because i have some games/software that cannot run properly or at all on win xp. (i have already tried compatibility mode but no luck). i've heard that one has to install the older operating system first (win 98) and then the newer (winxp) in order to have no problems. however i really do not wish to uninstall windows xp. is there any way for me to install win 98 in a fat32 partition on my c: disk or on my other disk without losing windows xp? any advice would be greatly apreciated.

use partition magic to install to the specific partition

I think that will work

Or if you don't want to spend money, pop in the XP CD, and let it go through setup until you get to the partition setup segment (I'll get back to you on this once I go look for the CD to tell specifics) and that can create a FAT32 partition pretty quickly for you.

the xp cd doesn't create fat32.. at least not xp pro

Yeah.. It just prompts you to upgrade to NTFS...

actually i'm not sure that it does.. but you CAN.. or you can 'leave it' or format as ntfs

you don' thave to convert to NTFS it gives you the option. But you can click "c" I think ... and it will just continue.
