Which ports does one need to forward through a router to make remote desktop work?

If you plan to use the Remote Deskto web connection, which is microsofts VNC like applet. Then you will need do do a little more setup and forward another port. For reference, check out this article

i set my comp up with DMZ - should be in your router settings - and used radmin2.1 - basically it puts your computer "outside the router"

well i run zone alarm + my router.. so.. the question you should ask yourself is how paranoid are you? That should give you the answer on what about zone alarm :/
