I heard it was a bad idea to run Windows XP on my P2 355mHz processor.
I also heard extra RAM can fix the problem, but I havn't found any problems yet. Is any of this true?

you can do it.. it'll prob just be a bit slower though.. that can be minimized by getting rid of extra stuff xp uses

Make sure you have at bare minimum 256MB of RAM, preferably 512MB. What speed is your hard drive (ATA66 I'm assuming). Also, go to System Properties > Advanced (tab) > (Performance) Settings > Adjust for best performance. That'll help lag. Under Display Properties go to Themes (tab) and select Windows Classic.

Well yeah of course... I have an older PC Gamer issue and in the Hardware Q and A section, a guy wrote the Hardware Editor that whenever he loaded up Unreal Tournament (the original), his computer would literally burst to flames during the "precaching" portion of the game and he would usually keep a bucket of water by his machine to douse it. What machine was he running you ask? A 486. yep. pretty sad indeed. and funny. :)
