Win 2k - Repeated file corruption

Hi,

Recently upgraded my computer

Abit NF7 - S
XP2400
512 crucial PC2700
Maxtor 80GB

I'm installing windows 2000, and all is fine for the first few boot ups, but eventually on booting up, windows will complain about not being able to find a system file...

C:\WINNT\system32\config\system

the "repair" option never works and I have to install windows again. This has happened numerous times now, really getting annoying :(

Anybody any ideas?

Turned out to be the SATA drivers that were causing the problem, apparently it's a known problem with the NF7-S boards.

Switched to IDE .. all is good

Problem is, I'm getting the same or similar problem with IDE connection. When it's copying files over to the HDD after doing the format, there's always a few files it gets jammed up on and says it can't copy. I've tried WinXP and Win2000 with the same result and it's never the same file that it gets hung on. I've tried lowering the FSB and lowering memory timings with no luck. I've also tried a different CD-ROM with no luck. I've installed the latest BIOS (V16) for V2.0 of the NF7-S and still no luck. :shake:

Abit NF7-S V2.0
AMD XP 2500+ Barton
512 PC2700 (Micron chips)
30 GB Seagate ATA133 7200 RPM drive

Any help?
