pc basics and RAID...
I need a little help here figuring this all out. if i were to get say 5 shitty pcs, is there some possible way to mash em into one good pc? i was reading something about raid tech and i was curious to even know what that is. i'm seriously software saavy but literal hardware is out of my knowledge and league. any takers?

The short answer is: no.
RAID is for hard drives only, it does not affect the other parts of your PC that may be holding back performance. What you seem to be asking for is some kind of Power Rangers-style Megazord computer, and sadly, that's not how PC's work. While it's technically possible to link computers together as a Beowulf Cluster, that only works for certain, specially adjusted applications. It's not going to let you ram a bunch of Semprons together to make a machine that can play Crysis on Ultra. |
Also remember that gaming performance is typically more dependent on latency than bandwidth. Latency will increase in a cluster, even if minimally, while bandwidth will increase.
