ok, you know when you view a windows box in VNC you can see the actual gui display.... is there a way to do this with a linux box. i'm a newbie, and would actually like to work in gnome for the time being. i will get into the command line stuff once i get it working properly.

with XFree86, X Window managers including but not limited to gnome, have an interesting client/server model. It is almost the most unique and interesting feature actually. here's some information about it: http://www.x.org/X11.html
and i'm sure you may want an X Client for windows: http://x.cygwin.com/

when you say you want to do this and learn the command line stuff later, i think you'll find anything to do with unix involves a deeper understanding of the 'command line stuff'. especially if you want to configure X properly to take advantage of the client/server networked feature. so if you're seriously interested in learning about unix in general, and not how to click around in a gui, then start with a little RTFM! and understand how unix works. :)

you know, i never really found what RTFM means.... anyway, do you know of any serious newbie tutorials to RedHat, or linux in general? thanks for the help merc.

yeah wouldnt those be awesome? i cant even find my HD!, well.. i found one but.... its fat32....
