WinXP licence vs HW upgrades
 

Is this true that when you have XP installed you are allowed to upgrade certain HW parts limited number of times and then your licence expires and you have to renew it ... that kinda crap
Not sure, but I think this topic was mentioned somewhere.

And when micro demanded to put serials on case, what a bullsh ...

I know there are programs, U235. Crackz, patches, sweet, yeah, but I'm talikng about the whole system ...

This interesting feature of WinXP wasn't really advertised, not by micro & not by distributors. In a fact few ppl ever heard about ;)

Talking about WinXP's advantages (if there any); with such a dirty trick, who's going to buy it now ???

And what's next (without programs) when the licence actually expired ? What typical user suppose to do

I don't think the license expires, but if you change hardware then you have to get a new code,I think from microsoft

Not to defend MS, but it's pretty smart really. For example Uranium's post says it all. Cracks n hacks are the reason for the dirty deed being created.

Everybody wants something for nothing. How many systems have you seen with someone else OS installed on it. A buddies a friends a family members and so on.

I do not agree that after X amount of upgrades of drivers or reinstalls you should have to relicense but again the amount of "free" or "illegal" installations out there just think how much richer ol' Gates would be.

Again I do not support MS for their tactics so don't flame me, but if it was my product out there and say I was only getting paid for one out of every 50 installations, I'd be looking for a way to prevent it myself.

Ok, just for my opinion micro pushed to far this time.
The idea wasn't new, as for example all HP laptops have hidden partition and dog knows what's in there ;) This attempt to stop pirated software flood is useless again, since ;) certain utilities ;) allow you to bypass the restriction ( wasn't that cracks.am ).

I just think of typical user that goes to store, purchases legal CD and installes the OS. And when sth goes wrong with HW he has additional headake with XP. (Then his friend tells him to go to cracks.am, but that's a different story ... )

yeah I wasn't talking about getting illegal copies of xp and using it free with the crack. I was talking about buying a legit copy and using a crack to stop MS from bugging you. If I get a product and I pay for a product, I think hacking it is ok, cause nobody gets hurt, microsoft still gets the money, so they shant be bitching

Of course if you dont mind feeling dirty and violated you can find a friend of a friend who happens to have a copy of XP Pro Corp edition....

No product activation required..

i think it is only fair of them, as illegal copies make it more expensive. that sux more than activation. just go online and activate it again if you have to.

you can do 6 changes before you have to reactivate it, unless you have OEM, which you can do unlimited, but must keep it to one comp. and all those pc mags were talking bout it , surpised you haven't heard much bout it.
