Not to defend MS, but it's pretty smart really. For example Uranium's post says it all. Cracks n hacks are the reason for the dirty deed being created.

Everybody wants something for nothing. How many systems have you seen with someone else OS installed on it. A buddies a friends a family members and so on.

I do not agree that after X amount of upgrades of drivers or reinstalls you should have to relicense but again the amount of "free" or "illegal" installations out there just think how much richer ol' Gates would be.

Again I do not support MS for their tactics so don't flame me, but if it was my product out there and say I was only getting paid for one out of every 50 installations, I'd be looking for a way to prevent it myself.
