Linux offers youngsters a richly featured, comprehensive, hands-on environment that they can use to learn about applications, networks, servers, and how to make it all work together. If you work with them, you can even start to instill some of your hard-earned business acumen, as well.

do any IT pros except some server admins/programers use linux for anything? Maybe in the future it'll be a good thing to know to the point that we should expose kids to it, but for now, it's far better to focus on windows and computers in general, which have much more useful purposes, before you venture into complicated and difficult concepts.

Linux is FAR better than windows in the short time I had a chance to use it. It never crashed and was super fast!
But it is hard to use and programs to make it easier to use are coming out all the time.

yea, here's how it is...
windows: most program support
mac: most artsy stuff
linux: most stripped down aka fastest
I don't use my comp for artsy stuff or to be the fastest, so the program support of windows is for me... and 98% of everyone else...

um.. stinky.. Versatility means basically that you can use alot of stuff on it.. that's one of linux's biggest weaknesses... and pro... how can it be the best for games, when few games work on it.. You mean, it has the POTENTIAL to be the best for games.

well it's not versatile at all... so dunno what you were thinking there.. and it's not the best.. it may perform the best, but if you can't play most games at all, it certainly isn't "the best choice for the gamer"
