Default Windows XP

Does anybody know the status and final release date of the Windows XP family?

Isn't it coming out in the next couple of months? I'll definitely have more info on that since I'll be attending an eXtreme launch event this week for Windows Office XP and then another one on June 1st for the Window XP launch event.

Thanks Man!

I went to the Windows 2000 launch and i had very good time.  There was free lunch and free break-out training sessions.  Plus tons of Microsoft parters are usually there and you can get lots of free stuff.  I received a bunch of betas and a copy of Windows 2000 Professional.

All i can say is the Windows XP is very unstable right now.  I tried to install Windows XP on a couple of computers and it crashed everytime.  And each time it gave different errors!
Has anybody here had any postive experience with XP?

I just came from Microsoft's website for XP.  According to them, the countdown clock says there are 148 days, 9 hours, 26 minutes, and 23 seconds left before it's released.  Basically, that makes it out to October 25th.  Of course, we all know that probably isn't going to be the real date.  Unless they follow in the ways of Apple and release it early like what they did with OS X. Apple released it 10 days before the official release date...I think...I could be wrong.

I'm going to subscribe to the preview program and see if I can get my hands on a copy of any beta versions of XP and I'll report back sometime later again...

Added:
Okay, this sucks.  It'll cost me $10 to get a copy of RC1 and RC2 of XP.  Is it worth the $10 and the wait for the download or should I get it anyway?  I figure since I've already given MS most of my money for unstable software would I care to do so again with the knowledge that I'm REALLY subjecting myself to faulty software?  I think not, unless someone else has other suggestions...

Alright I have a copy of Win XP but from what I've heard it's incredibly unstable and not that much more impressive than ME, should I even bother trying to load it or should I through it on the pile?

if their retail O/S's are suspect, then what chance has a beta got ?
does anyone know what the deal is with having to register xp and include auto-detected system specs ?
what if you upgrade and re install win xp and your system spec have changed ?
has any one else heard this ?
