VPN might be a good solution for you, also. A free solution is available at RealVNC. If you have a Linux box, you might want to set up a VPN server using PPTP.

EDIT: I almost forgot about OpenVPN completely!

when I try and connect to my comp at home, from school, I get a 10061 error, my comp at home is apparently refusing the connect, it says
"unable to connect to host: Connection refused (10061)"
At home I have a password on it, but I know the pass and figured it would prompt for it when I try and connect. Also, I have it on accept thru port 5900, and when I put my VNC adress:5900, it still doesn't work.
Any help would be appreciated.

Try using a port scanner. Nmap(google it or 'port scanner' i'm to lazy to post urls) does fine for me. If you skiddish about downloading things on school computers get one of them handy little thumb drives. Works like a dream...usually. You might want to try and learn more about ports-in-general just google that info too.

you have to change proxy in your internet settings... using web-proxy won't work because those proxies remove all the scripting from the site including Java, so that's why runescape can't load.

http://www.runescape-proxy.com

^ I use that at school
