Default Why the Heck!

hello,

I have heard how XP is so wonderful and how it is a living hell...
I try to find pages and sites like this one to help me choose what Windows OS is the one for me
They say that XP is heavy but take of the "nice looking" stuff and put it in classic mode.
But why the heck would I spend my money on a new OS and after turning of everything nice and making it look like 2K!
It doesnt make sence...
I liked 98, its the "lightest" OS and it stands heavy programs, such as games...
But now im so used to the 2K/XP clean install, actually I have NEVER installed 98 and I want to know how you actually install it clean.
Have heard its in dos mode so im confused and I dont want to make stupid moves...
Uranium is the one who uses 98 aight?

please let me know

you can boot the 98 installer off the CD, it's not in 'dos' mode exacly.

full install is easy from there

By shutting off the visual enhancements, you are not getting rid of its features, and in fact you would be enhancing its greatest feature. The visuals are one of the reasons why XP is often suggested, but not usually the main one. Performance is where it shines. XP will perform better than Windows 98 on pretty much any current system. And the greatest part is that once you shut off the visual enhancements, it performs even better.
