i just deleted 19,100 temp internet files

i use win 98se , and here's my story:
my pc started being naughty............ out of memory errors, apps working soooo slow. hmmm there's something going on here i thought.
after typing *temp* into "find all files" i chose temporary internet files folder and nearly fell off my chair when it opened up. i had accrued 19,100 temp files in 3 months on the net!

i pushed ctrl + a  to select all, right click on any highlighted area and chose delete from the menu. remember to empty your recycle bin too!
next up was a defragment to tidy up the harddrive and viola! my pc is happy again and so am i  ;D

I have a monthy cleaning day on my PC.  I do these things and it keeps my computer running fast.

1)Delete all TEMP internet files
2)Delete all temporary files
3)Delete all files that i do not need anymore
4)Empy recycle bin
5)Run ScanDisk
6)Run a full defrag.

If you do this once a month your puter should stay in tip-top shape

how many megs/gigs was that?

im not sure how many megs, but when i hit delete my hdd flogged for about 5 minutes dumping them all!!
some was pr0n, alot was college stuff, some was mp3 sites, u know all the usual stuff !!!

Ack?! Defrag once a week is cool like tha Admin' said. Also to help keep your temp file woes to a min, try setting your browser to empty temp files to delete each time you exit

Another choice is to lower/heighten how much you want your cache to store . I keep mine at 128 but you can always adjust it  :-* It's in settings for Temp Internet files.

i modified my autoexec.bat file to delete all cookies and temp files upon startup. it works a treat.

Yep yep not a prob. Since I'm very deprived and have a shitty system, so I get the pleasure of clearing out my cache all the time. I can imagine how shocked you felt when you saw all those files With the nifty tricks I've learned over the past few years, it still runs nice considering it's well past it's prime ( old 233Mhz by Vision Technologies  )

hey DV, i found a snappy free app that minces temp files and cookies with a couple of clicks its called "cookie monster II". i just built a new pc and can't seem to get the modded auto exec bat file thing to work properly on this one (weird huh?). ???

have you tried overclocking your old 233 DV? i seem to remember most of those old cpu's doing 266 and some did around 280ish (hey its free speed)

my record is a little over 5000 temp files in one day. pretty good huh.
