Default FBI and Majic Lantern

Being a newbie here and not having read the entire forum yet, is anyone here keeping up with the FBI's spying trojan ? It has been causing lots of controversy  and ill will. First it was the 'Carnovorie'  spying project, now they have added Majic Lantern, they first denied all knowledge of Majic lantern several mo's ago but now they admit it to be true and seems they have recieved ( recruited ? ) offers of help from a well known hacking group. ( Do birds of a feather ? ) Whether or not you value  your computer/internet privacy, it is something for everyone to think about.
The carnavorie project is still in full swing and here is some updates on  Majic Lantern:

Well, I think someone asked some government official if the government participated in any of this hacking/spying junk, and they said something like "Hacking and spying like that is considered illegal, and it would go against our morals to do so" or some crap like that.  That's pretty much what I've hear about it.
