Thanks for the link.

I've tried running linux in a couple different places, but I've always run into some compatibility issue that makes me move back to xp.

I'm determined to make the switch permanent.... I guess I'll try again.

who runs linux? ew... pengiuns?

anyways, I ran Ubuntu for a while, but didn't like it... I dont' see how linux is any better then XP...

Linux offers a lot of things at the expense of a number of things. Getting started in linux can be a difficult and daunting thing, which is what that guide attempts to address.

If XP is your thing more power to you, but Linux brings a lot of things to the table and with a little help from someone it can take the frustration out of learning a new OS. I encourage you to try it, use the Ubuntu forums or ask here if you have any issues, or google it. Most of the time google can fix issues with linux, its amazing.
