Default Red Hat Linux for Itanium

Red Hat is now putting forth Red Hat Linux 7.1 for the Itanium Processor, featuring the new Linux 2.4 kernel. The new configuration supports the increased address space of Itanium-based systems and scales to eight or more Itanium processors running as a single system. New features of Red Hat Linux 7.1 include desktop functionality with updated GNOME & KDE, graphical environments where users can choose their preferred desktop, Mozilla, an XFree86 4.0.3 interface that supports 2D and 3D graphics, and USB support for hot-swappable devices. Red Hat Linux 7.1 for the Itanium will be available for download and from Red Hat’s hardware partners in the coming weeks. For more information, check out Red Hat's here
