Default asus p5vdc-mx - need insight

a friend of mine is trying to sell a good motherboard (at least, that's what he says) to me to upgrade my rig, and he's giving it to me at a steal (£30 total, he just wants to dispose of it, i guess). it's an asus p5vdc-mx with a 3.2ghz core 2 intel processor, no memory. any of you guys have experience with this specific motherboard? issues? appreciate any response. cheers.

Well I doubt the processor he is giving you is a Core 2 architecture. Its probably not dual core, though if it is its more likley to be a pentium D and not core 2. The motherboard has integrated graphics and a PCI-E 1.0 slot. for 30 pounds its not a bad deal. The motherboard does use DDR and DDR2 slots which I have found almost always leads to problems. For a simple browsing online its good but dont expect to play much 3D games with the MX chipset.

i was able to swing by bryan's last night (my friend who is selling the mobo) and you are right on the mark jason - 15 minutes in, while he was showing off call of duty on his rig, it crashed. when we rebooted, it wouldn't even go past the windows startup screen. £30 is really not that much, but i won't even pay 1 quid to get an automatic headache. thanks for the input. much appreciated.
