Check that your XP partition is marked as Active and that it hasn't somehow become hidden. You can do this via Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management but I'd recommend that you use a 3rd party utility such as Partition Magic as it can also fix partition table errors. PM is also more reliable because Administrative Tools->Computer Management doesn't automatically unhide a partition when you set it Active.
