As experts had warned it would, the new Code Red II worm is wreaking havoc with computer networks, causing many network administrators to shut down consumer service temporarily in an effort to rid themselves of the bug.
High-speed Internet access provider Qwest Communications is blaming Code Red II for service outages experienced by the company's DSL customers, according to a report published Tuesday in the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Many of Qwest's 50,000 customers in Minnesota have told the company they can't log on to the Net. If they do manage to log on, service is quickly interrupted.
