Default Printing from 2K to 2K

We got a new printer, and I can only get it to work on our newer computers (2000 pro). But after I share it, in order to even get my 2000 pro to see it, I have to remote login as administrator for the computer connected to the printer. If I don't, whatever application I'm using to print from, says the printer does not exist. What I need to do is disallow only-admin security for connecting to that computer. Any idea how?

umm, you should be able to hit start->settings-> printers-> printer-> right click-> properties there should be a tab for security. I believe that's what you want.

no it's not. When I go to My network places, and double-click on that computer, it asks me for a password, and I must enter the admin username/password for that computer to connect.

After that, I can print.

hmm, this is kinda silly, i've networked hundreds of w2k boxes to printers and never had this problem.... maybe under file/print sharing somewhere there is something for requirement for user/pass. does the same thing happen if you share a folder from this computer? definitely let us know what fixes this tho

i have the exact same freakin issue when i moved..

it would seem a simple issue in adding a particular user name to the permissions of the printer share..but noOooooo... it pains us in the anus.

I'm talking about actually getting to the share. I can't even get to that without putting a password in. What I had to do (And I knew this would of worked the whole time, but I didn't want to do it). Is change the admin password on the computer with the printer, to the same one as my admin password. the matching accounts allow it through. But I would prefer not to have the same password for both admin accounts, but appearently, I don't have a choice
