I'm like, 1/2 switched over to Linux (Debian 3.0r1 with KDE 3.1). Rather than messing with a bootloader to do my dual booting, I just installed it on a separate hard drive, and then just change the boot order in my BIOS when I want to boot to the other thing. It's kinda cheating, but it's one less thing I have to worry about setting up or breaking.
I've been using Linux for several months now, but not on my primary box. I've installed it, and used it on a server for quite some time, which has given me the exposure and courage I needed to take the jump to try and switch my main box. The thing(s) that are primarily holding me back, from completely switching over, at this point, are the fact that I still can't access any of the data on either of my RAID arrays (~400 GB of data, including all of my music), and I can't sync my Palm (Handspring Treo 180, technically). I probably wouldn't advise jumping headfirst into a main box system switch, without prior experience, but maybe that's just my style. If you have another box that you can mess around with, that'd probably be best, IMO.
