Default AGH I CANT SHUT DOWN

i click shut down and it wont shutdown.. or restart... or stand by i have to do it maunally whcih is bad for a comp

uh oh

this is happening to my win2k pro too just this week...

doing a virus scan now

ill tell u how to solve this once i figure the way...

found 3 viruses

same thing but different files

but i dont think they have to do with this case

btw, mines hangs on a black screen after i click shut down

well read that knowledge database

problem usualy originates within bios power management options or advanced power managment options in windows

i read that thing ^^^^^ it didnt help i have windows xp

I looked in power management nothing to change

I havent changed any options in bios yet....

i just re installed windows this morning and i still have the same problem...

Perhaps you should look at the task manager and find out what is running. Chances are something's hanging up and preventing the system from shutting down.

And as for viruses, go to www.pandasoftware.com or www. antivirus.com and use their online virus scanning utililty. Maybe you missed something.

my patented quickfix for windows problems, please read carefully
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. give up trying to fix
2. find dos boot disk
3. put dos boot disk in
4. reset computer by any means necessary
5. when prompt loads, format c:
6. wait
