ok, call me naive, but i think this article is true. In fact, the guy who wrote it is involved with an extremist group known as the PTC (Parents Television Council) . These people have been successful in having shows actually cancelled from network television. They use typical Mobster activities, such as extortion to have their "views" agreed with. They are currently involved in a lawsuit from the WWF.
The sad thing about this, is that there really are people out there that feel this way, and some dumb@ss is giving these people power. The biggest majority of my family would believe every word this guy said because, they, like him, are misinformed, and quite simply afraid of what they don't understand. The AMD comment has really become a great joke between friends tho! Well, just thought i'd keep u guys informed about these wacko-s!  :

Support ur favorite hacker.......buy a new copy of "Quake" LOL

Just a few things I found intersting is that all haking tools can be removed through the add/remove program box I can see this.

IE explorer
Microsoft Word
Microsoft Works
128-bit encryption cracker
Fuzzzy pink bunny slippers
Computer hacking for Dummies
Pentagon Hacking 1.2 (Beta)

And I would love to see those 3rd world kids in the clean room developing x86 chip processors.  And the wonderful Intel chips with built in Anti-Hacking features (that is technically called Thermal instability and most people consider it a design flaw.)

AO He!! as GREAT ISP that blows the credibility right there.

Comet cursor is hacking software just not in the way he means it to be considered it actually is Spy-ware.

And how many hackers need a cutting edge video-card to hack a computer.

The quake and Linux comments are just to absurd to comment on.  Just one Redneck's opinion.

Now I need to add more gas to modem to transmit this.

the article you linked to could be for parents of children aged 4 to 10 years maybe 12 years. why shall computer games be banned for everyone just because a bunch of parents care for their children too much and a bunch of them too little.i´m from austria and so child protecting laws don´t mean too much for me. the first time i was drunk was when i was 13 years old and i´ve been watchin´ pr0n for my entire life ;D.
violent games i´ve been playing for about two years now and i like it. me and some friends are currently founding a Firearms ( halflife-mod) and it´s good fun. it also helps me get rid of my aggression. to protect children a law would be needed to hinder them from purchasing those games unless they are 18 or their parents allow them to. completely bannin the game is senseless because a lot of people will get it from anywhere else and most of them weill be the ones who should be protected, and their parents won´t even notice anything.
it´s like trying to protect them from drinking. if it´s forbidden it´s fun. ancient unwritten law

LMAO, that's grand.  I couldn't even bare to read on after it got to the Quake part.  My parents would honestly be really scared if someone forwarded that to them.  They're about as close to amish as you can get, in regards to their mindsets about technology.  Almost any point the guy raised just cracked me up...AMD, video card, new hardware, more than 30 minutes/day.  It scares me to think that people believe that.

This is an interesting group... thanks for letting guests post.

I honestly don't know if I should laugh or cry. I'm proud to say neither of my folks would fall for this stuff (they'de quite after the "I attend their teen parties with them to ensure no drinking or alcohol is on the premises" line, but even if you took that out they'de be wondering what this person was smoking when he wrote this- I say he because it mentions his wife.) and that it would go into the trash after we'de all laughed, shaken our heads and wondered how people like that reproduce. The only thing I wonder is, is this a real person? I mean, obviosly they have no clue; not just about computers, but in general: "You may meet with some resistance at first, but even booksellers have to bow to community pressure"... no they don't. Not in this country, and not in a lot of others. Besides, if your child is a hacker, he/she undoubtedly knows how to get that stuff online... sorry for preaching to the choir.

The only other thing that occurs to me is about the comment on violent vido games and drinking on one of the posts. Though I've never been drunk (I intensly dislike the tast of alcohal and would have to work to swallow that much) I've been playing violent video games since they came into existace (amiga I believe was my first encounter with a truly graphic game... pre-wolfenstein, and just about pre-nintendo) but even now that there are laws gouverning those games, I could get anyone any game they wanted _legally_. So even the good old free US hasn't banned porn and video games yet. Not even on AOL (not that I use it excepting some of the software they bought up) has really banned that stuff. Too much profit. Most of the porn links I get are on AOL-owned ICQ, and it wouldn't be any different if I actually used AOL as an ISP.

Frankly, if I had a kid who was a hacker (in the sense used here), I'de want to know how they did it, and only really be mad if they'de done any dammage... in which case I'de handle it like a neihbors broken window. ("Okay, you call them and negotiate for damages. I expect you to pay it off, legally.") Unless it was the feds, at which point I'de make sure they stopped, but let the government decide if they thought it worth coming to us about. :P :P :P > > > > :/ :/

This is the saddest things i've heard.  The MP3 part is the most pathetic.  Quake.... I just had to stop there.  THE NEUROMANCER IS A KICK ASS BOOK!! I don't even think this guy even looked to read the book.  This must be a joke, or this guy's got family issues.  That's what we get from 11 year old kid's parents.

... " BSD, Lunix, Debian and Mandrake are all versions of an illegal hacker operation system, invented by a Soviet computer hacker named Linyos Torovoltos , before the Russians lost the Cold War. " ...

LOL

This is even better, then Zombo

Cheers for Sad, otherwise I would miss this baby
