XP and 2k do have a refresh rate problem that can be overrode with a 3rd party application when runing games in fullscreen Direct3d or OpenGL mode

I would personally put 2K over XP and 98.

But since my IDE controller does not support DMA under 2K (M$ made the drivers for it). I refuse to use it.

bah... i suppose xp is much better; 'Hi Jason425, I am the Wizard for so-and-so with me you will never learn jack shit except how to fix the things i fuck up after doing all these automated tasks.'

xp isn't that bad but 2k needs more credit than you're giving it.

Watch your tone, please. Tensions have been high lately and people have been getting offended. Thank You!

No problem man, it's cool. Just curious. Yeah. You'll find all sorts of OS's on this site. But I agree with vee_ess, not need to kindle a fire over this Merc. We've been there before

yea.. there is more than one way to do most things, and if you already 'know everything' then the wizards just make things a bit faster and easier, or you can still do things the hard way.. its a choice.

Yeah. A few things were deleted that could be left unread. So now that that has been properly moderated, back to subject. I think it's good that most of these user's OS's are windows. That way more OS intelligence can be exchanged, and we can all learn as a whole.

this is a great conversation. i do not 'know everything', nor did i mention that. that was not the point to my statement. let me reiterate:

yes, i concur. 2K is a good os. its very stable, i've only had one problem, but that was because i bad driver jacked everything up.

i've been working here for almost a year, i have yet to see a bsod on 2K.

just my $0.02.

later

bad topic for a poll simply b/c so many use different OS's. I have 2kpro, xppro, mandrake and freebsd on my several machines, some single boot, some multi-boot. *shrug* not very interesting really

edit: re: 2k is a screw up...
i'm not sure what you're talking about. maybe you're thinking of me (which is definitely a screwup). 2k is actually a hell of a lot more stable for me than xp is. If you're running a server of any kind, you'd definitely want to use 2k over xp or me (unless you're rich and can afford 2k3). It's a solid OS (though i have seen it BSOD plenty, but then I do some ridiculous stuff with my computer sometimes. . )
