The quest for speed has arguably been completed for many computer users, and is now replaced by one for silence. The latest battle is against NOISE; 3GHz processors and memory speeds that were only a pipedream 5 years ago mean that even an off-the-shelf PC can satisfy, but perhaps at the expense of a case-full of humming (sometimes roaring!) fans...
There are lots of products on the market now aimed at reducing noise, and also many for making your PC look good - of course the best products multi-task and do both, like the Pyramid fan silencer, reviewed today at RipNet-UK. Here's a quote:
"... I decided to use an Antec fan to test the Pyramid so I could still monitor the fan speeds through the motherboard. The first thing I noticed is just how much noise those Antec fans make! You may not think so but just with the one fan running slower the overall system noise dropped a noticable amount..."
