Default Print screen on a MacIntosh, OsX

My problem is that every time itry to make a picture of my screen, the system give it to me in PDF file, on my desktop... How can i just have a picture file, and where sould i go to make the switch ?

Default Print Screen in OSX

I found this in Mac Help and tried it out so I know this works:
Open Grab(located in Applications/Utilities) and choose Screen from the Capture menu. When the Screen Grab window opens, click outside that window.

Note(not mentioned in Help): When you launch Grab, you then need to highlight it on the dock and then select Screen(Command Z). from the Capture menu.
