ok. I'm having trouble finding this. from what I can tell the EPoX 8K5A2+ is running award 6.0 bios.

after a search. I hit epox's site and got a server too busy. but from the text in the search query on google, it might have something to do with agp. I don't know it's a long shot

www.epox.com.tw

dont forget the .tw because its a taiwanese company

im reading the manual for u now
it can be found here
http://www.epox.com.tw/file/8K5A2_%2b_N.PDF

for some reasons, i cant copy that part of the manual

Thanks for the assistance and advice. I have had similar problems when trying to get to the EPoX website. The manual does say that the specific code is "reserved." I may check on the AGP issue and try reseating the graphics card a few times. I will let you know the outcome of my endeavors.

After unsuccesfully trying to reseat the graphics card, I am going to see if therein lies the problem and try using an older GeForce 2 that is my current system. The problem may be in the card itself, and not the motherboard. I just received this motherboard after RMAing the first one for a different POST hang up, so it is unlikely that I would have gotten two bad ones. Then again, maybe I am just unlucky. We will see. Thanks again everyone for advice.

As an update, I used the old GeForce 2 I had, and the computer started to boot up just fine. Now pulling the old switcheroo, the GeForce 4 boots fine on my old mobo (3 + yrs old I have no idea what it is). Now I am thinking that maybe a BIOS flash to the most current BIOS for the board is needed. I think I am going to boot up and install the OS and hardware and then flash the BIOS and see if that helps. If that does not work I will contact EPoX about the problem. It does seem though that there may be a compatibility problem. Thanks again for all input.

An AGP driver wouldn't have any bearing on a POST issue. That'd just be if he was having problems once he got into the OS.
