Epson LabelWorks LW-400 Label Printer Review

The Epson LW-400 In Use:

What better way to test a label maker than by using it to help organize some folders.  Using the included Symbols and Frames listing, which is very useful by the way, we created an assortment of labels for various things in our office. The LW-400 took an average of 18 seconds to print a label with 10 letters in a frame with a single symbol. I have seen faster label printers on the market but few with as many options and features.  In all honesty it took me longer to create the label than did the printing which brings me to the next important point. Why buy the LabelWorks LW-400 to begin with. After all you could hand write your labels on your folders faster than printing them. The answer is easy:

  1. Professional and consistent look to all labels.
  2. Ability to print multiple labels.
  3. Ability to store up to 50 most used designs for future printing.

That’s just three of the reasons off the top of my head and that doesn’t even take into account the ability for the LW-400 to use special tapes to stand out.

Exchanging  Tape Reels:

I wanted to test how easy it was to exchange out the tape reel in the LW-400. What use is a label maker if you have to use up the currently installed tape before switching to another?  I therefore popped open the back of the LW-400 and took the cartridge out hoping to avoid having the tape come out or get stuck. I’m happy to say it took about five seconds to open the back and pull out the cartridge and I had no problems with the tape  at all.
