The Aurum series of power supplies clearly look pretty impressive on paper, but they also look pretty impressive in person. FSP has clearly gone above and beyond to make these look like a premium component. The net-sheathed cable bundles add a neat touch to a case wearing this power supply, but it’s mildly disappointing that the cables are not modular. They’re long enough to reach everything, even in a big case with a badly laid out motherboard, but not long enough to route them for optimal airflow in a worst-case scenario, not that they can really be expected to work around the limitations of a badly-engineered motherboard. Having said that, the heat penalty I pay for less-than-perfect airflow is probably less than the heat penalty from a less efficient power supply; this should be true in most other installations.
Included is a high-grade power cable. | Sadly, not modular. |
Still, bundled cable is nice. | Sits nicely in the power bay of my case. |
