Kingston SSDNow 40 GB Solild State Drive

Looks and Upgrade Kit

The appearance of the Kingston SSDNow 40 GB SSD kit itself is respectively modest. The package was relatively small not very catchy. Inside I found a SATA cable, the SSD, the Cloning CD Rom and desktop conversion kit.

Despite the fact that this particular kit is considered for as a desktop upgrade, the only difference between this kit and the notebook kit are the side clams that convert the drive to 3.5″. The reason for doing that is none other than the fact that because it is a solid state drive, the size does not matter. This means that Kingston will not have to manufacture 2 different versions of the same drive, instead it can use the same drive and pass on the savings to the consumer.

Software

Usually when migrating an entire OS to a different hard drive can be a pain in the you know what. Kingston decided to make matters significantly easier for their consumers by providing a disk that will do it all for you. The application is called ACRONIS True Image HD. In addition to transferring your data to your new hard drive, this program has other useful features such as backing up your entire hard drive onto a spare or doing a complete recovery of your hard drive. The program itself is bootable, so you would not be able to access it in Windows, but it provides a familiar XP-style user interface.
