Otterbox Defender Series – iPad Case

A Closer Look

The iPad version of the Otterbox Defender series is just like all of the others. There is an under shell that protects your iPad from scratches and bumps by providing a hard shell that holds the iPad in place. There is a rubberized shell that fits the exterior of the plastic shell. The purpose of this part of the case is to protect the iPad from minor bumps and drops. The combination of these two layers provides the ultimate protection for your iPad.

The down side of this is that unlike the iPhone Otterbox Defender case, the iPad version doesn’t have a built in screen protector. While this is unfortunate, the case actually had a snap on cover that protects the screen. The upside is that this cover doubles as a stand for the iPad, something that can come in handy if you are using the unit at a table or even on your lap. Don’t want to use the stand? Don’t worry, it snaps to the back and is fairly out of the way.

The case itself, like the rest of the defender line up does add some heft to the iPad. It feels like it nearly doubles the thickness of the iPad, but fortunately doesn’t add that much weight. While personally I don’t mind this, many people like the fact that the iPad is so thin and compact. This case might not be right for some, but if you’re looking for ultimate protection, check out the Defender Series. If youre looking to stylize your iPad, fear not. The Defender for ipad comes in several different variations to choose from. Below are a few of the most popular.

Conclusion

We were a bit skeptical at first. The iPad is basically a large piece of portable glass strapped to a piece of aluminum. We didn’t think that there would ever be a case that could really protect this tablet. If anything needs to be placed in a case, it’s the iPad and the best protection you can get is the Otterbox Defender Series. For $85, the price is a bit high for most, but it’s still cheaper than buying a new screen if you happen to drop the iPad. If you can’t leave home without your iPad, you better put it in the case you shouldn’t leave home without, the Otterbox Defender Series Case for the iPad

  1. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! I purchased a case for $49.90 (a ttille stupid I know), I was expecting a really nice case. However, what I got was a cheap plastic case with crystals glued on it. A lot of the crystals fell off after a week of use. The company is in Hong Kong, and there is no customer service number. If you are unhappy with the item that is purchased you have 3 DAYS to return it. BEWARE!!! The cases look very cool online, but I would not trust the company.
