Conclusion

The Patriot Xporter Rage 32GB drive is sure big enough to “Xport” any file that you need to carry around with you. At 32GB, this flash drive more closely resembles a tiny USB SSD than anything else. Though we would like to see this in the USB 3.0 version, it is still plenty fast to exceed the expectations of a regular USB 2.0 drive. The 4 NAND chip capability is where we ask our questions. Why do it? We didn’t see any drastic speed increase over any other high speed USB 2.0 drives. The sustained speeds were about the same as well as the seek time and virtually everything else. At just under $80, this drive is reasonably priced among its competition. We happily award the Patriot Xporter Rage 32GB drive the TechwareLabs Approved Hardware Award.

  1. Didn’t you write about a Quad-channel USB 3.0 drive a few weeks ago?
Here is its. It was the Express drive.

Not only is this drive much much faster, even in a USB 2.0 port, but it is CHEAPER and arguably better looking too. And when I finally get that machine wiht a USB 3.0 port, I am going to be in nerd heaven.

    • Peterc,

That is correct. The Super Talent drive reviewed by Matt Homan is faster. That is not surprising, as it is a newer technology. I’d assume many people know the name Patriot a little better and would rank their products a little higher. This would be why you are paying for the name “Patriot” a little more. The Xporter series is designed with an active lifestyle in mind. While the Super Talent drive appears nicer, if you looked at the two side by side, you can tell this to be true.

I live in nerd heaven, so anytime you’re in town, stop by…we can play some TF2 or MW2…
