Installation -

The videocard we subjected to this benchmark was a PCI X 6600 from XFX. This was chosen for its availablity in the lab, not b/c it needed a quiter or cooler fan. The removal of the stock heatsink was very simple with two press pins and the clean up of the excess thermal grease.

Stock XFX 6600 PCI X card

The kit comes with the heat sink, fasteners and RAM heatsinks

The heatsink was a little bit of a juggle act at first, but once the mounting screws were fastened the heatsink install was a snap. The one thing that was very noticeable right off was the weight. The heat sink added a few ounces to the already heavy video card, but as long as the card is seated well and the locking screw or gate is in place, the weight won't be a problem.
