Crucial Ballistix DDR2 PC2-8500

Conclusions

The Crucial Ballistix DDR2 PC2-6400 held up well against the two configurations of Kingston HyperX that we tested it against. Even though the 4 GB configuration of Kingston RAM beat the Crucial RAM in most tests it should be noted that they were both very close and that these kits represent the peak of what DDR2 has to offer.  With the price for this RAM sitting at around $55 (newegg.com) you can’t beat the performance for the price.

Something that should also be said is this RAM is rated for 2.0 V, an overclocker would immediately recognize that the standard DDR2 voltage is 1.8 V and thus this RAM kit is ready for an overclock straight from the box.  This RAM is made for performance use and anyone in the market for cheap performance RAM should definitely consider picking some of this stuff up.
