Provider:  Achieva Australia
Manufacturer:  Transcend

We decided to do testing on two platforms, on the desktop and on a mobile notebook.

DESKTOP:

  • CPU: Intel Pentium 4 3.43Ghz Extreme Edition
  • RAM: 2x1GB Corsair TWIN2X1024A-6400 (800Mhz @ 5-5-5-15)
  • MOBO: ASUS P5WD2-Premium (955X Express Chipset)
  • HD: 4x300GB Seagate NCQ (ST3300831AS) (RAID 0)
  • OS: Windows XP Service Pack II (Clean Installed)

MOBILE

  • Dell Inspiron 8600
  • CPU: Intel Pentium M 755 (2.0Ghz)
  • RAM: 2x512MB PC2700 Infineon
  • MOBO: Dell 0Y4572 (i855PM Chipset)
  • HD: Fujitsu MHT2080AT PL
  • OS: Windows XP Service Pack II (Clean Installed)

Testing Methodology

The reason to add the notebook to the test is to determine whether it will differ greatly from what the desktop is like, we dont expect the mobile benchmark to differ greatly when comparing with power and on batteries.

NOTE:'Optimize for Performance' Policy was used by windows for the device.

Testing Tools

We've gathered a bunch of tools to test the USB Drive on. Shall we?
