Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R Motherboard

Author:  Chris Swertfeger
Date:  2009.04.09
Topic:  Motherboards
Provider:  Gigabyte
Manufacturer:  Gigabyte

BIOS:

As we mentioned before, as of BIOS update F5, this board now supports both CrossfireX and SLI. The overclocking settings for this board are also exceptionally good. It has more voltage settings than the majority of tweakers will ever have to deal with.

Overclocking:

After only about 10 minutes of tinkering we were able to overclock our Intel 920 i7 from 2.66GHz to 3.5 GHz. We left the Intel Turbo Boost feature enabled to increase the multiplier from the stock x20 to x21. We're confident that with a little more tweaking we could probably get the chip to hold steady at 3.8 GHz (we were able to reach this speed but it wasn't as stable as we would have liked). We should also mention that this overclock to 3.5 GHz was achieved using the stock voltage of the processor, which stands as a testament to the ability of the processor and the voltage controller of the motherboard.
